Job Description

Robert Half is looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist for a Brookfield, WI area organization. This position will play a key role in supporting the organization’s financial health, with a primary focus on collections and account follow-up. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and confident communicating with customers to resolve outstanding balances while maintaining strong professional relationships. This individual will also support broader accounts receivable functions, including payment posting, account reconciliation, and issue resolution. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate sound judgment, and work collaboratively across departments to ensure timely and accurate cash flow management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable processes with an emphasis on collections and reducing past-due balances
• Contact customers by phone, email, and written correspondence regarding outstanding invoices
• Review aging reports regularly and prioritize collection efforts based on delinquency status
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, unapplied cash, and account disputes
• Post customer payments accurately and reconcile customer accounts as needed
• Maintain thorough documentation of collection activity, payment status, and customer communications
• Partner with internal teams, including accounting, sales, and customer service, to resolve invoice and payment issues
• Assist with month-end close activities related to accounts receivable
• Prepare reports on aging, collections progress, and account activity for management
• Identify opportunities to improve collections processes and overall receivables performance

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounts receivable experience, with a strong focus on collections
• Demonstrated ability to manage difficult collection conversations professionally and effectively
• Strong understanding of accounts receivable, cash application, reconciliations, and aging analysis
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
