Cisco Network Engineer

Location: New York City

Duration: 12-Month Contract

Pat rate $60 to 65/hr.

Client is seeking a Cisco Network Engineer to support enterprise network infrastructure initiatives. This role will focus on the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Cisco networking environments while ensuring reliable and secure network operations. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting large-scale enterprise networks and be comfortable working independently in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco network infrastructure including switches, routers, and wireless environments.
• Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve connectivity issues.
• Support network upgrades, hardware replacements, and infrastructure refresh initiatives.
• Assist with implementing network security best practices and policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business and operational requirements.
• Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis activities.
• Support vendor engagement and coordinate maintenance activities when required.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise network environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies.
• Experience with network troubleshooting and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols, DNS, DHCP, and wireless networking.
• Experience working within enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP.
• Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
• Exposure to network security technologies including firewalls and VPNs.
• Experience supporting infrastructure modernization or migration projects.
