Job Description

A growing transportation and fleet operation in Cumberland, MD is actively seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic to join their maintenance team. This position is ideal for a technician who takes pride in quality workmanship, values safety, and enjoys troubleshooting and repairing heavy-duty diesel equipment in a fast-paced shop environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of diesel trucks and trailers to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, brakes, suspensions, transmissions, and other truck and trailer components
  
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service inspections
  
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic software and tools
  
• Complete DOT inspections and ensure equipment remains compliant with safety regulations
  
• Accurately document repairs, parts usage, and maintenance records
  
• Inspect equipment to identify potential failures or safety concerns
  
• Work collaboratively with the maintenance team and communicate repair updates effectively
  
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician
  
• Strong understanding of diesel engine systems and heavy-duty truck repair
  
• Experience using diagnostic software and troubleshooting electrical systems
  
• Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation
  
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive Pay

• $27.00 - $33.00/hour based on experience and skill level

Schedule

• Monday - Friday
  
• Afternoon Shift | 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM
  
• Overtime available and paid after 40 hours
