E&I Planner (Electrical & Instrumentation) – 12-Month Contract | Billings, MT | Refinery

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced E&I Planner to support maintenance and turnaround activities at a major oil refinery in Billings, MT. This is a hands-on planning role where you’ll build detailed job plans that drive safe, efficient, and reliable execution of electrical and instrumentation work.

What You’ll Do

• Develop detailed work packages for electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities
• Define labor, materials, tools, and sequencing for efficient job execution
• Perform field walk-downs to validate scope and identify constraints
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams
• Support planning and execution of turnarounds and shutdowns
• Ensure materials are identified, ordered, and staged ahead of scheduled work
• Estimate labor hours, job durations, and costs
• Maintain accurate planning data within CMMS (SAP preferred)
• Ensure all plans meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards

What You Bring

• 5–10+ years of E&I experience in refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments
• Previous experience in planning, scheduling, or maintenance coordination
• Strong knowledge of:
• Electrical systems (LV/MV)
• Instrumentation, controls, PLC/DCS systems
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, and loop diagrams
• Experience with CMMS systems (SAP highly preferred)
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

• Turnaround / outage planning experience
• Familiarity with RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance)
• Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, and ISA standards
