Assistant Controller - Onsite 5 days in Edison, NJ
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and execute the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, AR, AP, and inventory valuation
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper controls
• Monitor AR aging and AP balances, investigating discrepancies and improving cash flow visibility
• Maintain and reconcile inventory valuation accounts, ensuring alignment with financial records
• Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Maintain integrity of financial data across ERP systems
• Assist with multi-state sales tax filings, payments, and reconciliations
• Prepare audit schedules and support external audits
• Identify and implement process improvements, particularly around close and reconciliation processes
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience in a corporate environment
• Strong experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations (including AR/AP)
• Experience overseeing or supporting AP and AR functions
• Familiarity with inventory valuation and reconciliation
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and ERP systems (A2000 a plus)
• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven
• Experience in wholesale, distribution, or retail is a plus
